THURSDAY 9/10 AT 8 PM: Local Constituents in Eureka to Hold Vigil For Peace and Diplomacy in Support of Iran Deal
VigilsEUREKA, CA — On Thursday, September 10, local constituents will hold a candlelight vigil in support of peace and diplomacy as Congress prepares to vote on the historic nuclear agreement with Iran. The vigil is one of many that will take place nationwide. The vigils build on the grassroots activism over the past six weeks, including a national day of action with more than 200 events nationwide outside representatives’ and senators’ offices.
Over the August congressional recess, thousands of prodiplomacy activists turned out at hundreds of town hall meetings, rallies, demonstrations, and other events to make visible their support for the deal.
WHAT: Humboldt Bay Vigil for Peace and Diplomacy
WHERE:Boardwalk entrance at the foot of F Street, Eureka
WHEN:Thursday, September 10, 2015, 8 PM
On Thursday, we will join with others across the country to gather and light candles in support of giving peace and diplomacy a chance,” said Mitch Trachtenberg, one of the vigil’s hosts. “It’s crucial that Americans tell Congress we must stand for diplomacy and peace and not another unnecessary war.” Attendees will also be thanking 2nd District Representative Huffman and California Senators Boxer and Feinstein for courageously supporting diplomacy over war.
