Unfortunately the penalties for pharmaceutical companies price-gouging private insurance patients was tossed. Also, Republicans are hoping they can make sure that insulin is still ridiculously expensive. But the guarantee of good wages that Manchin pushed (ensuring that batteries are produced in the US or countries with trade agreements with the US – and I actually have no problem with that – capitalism will find a way to exploit the credits and American workers will benefit) survived as did the rest of the climate change provisions. So it goes to the vot-a-rama session this afternoon and it looks like the Democrats have a win to campaign on, seniors catch a break, and we inch further away from fossil fuel dependency.

A huge let down from Build Back Better, but with 48 Democrats in the Senate, a win is a win.
