Hank has the details.

I remember a reference in The Good Fight to the material differences between Franco’s forces and the Republican Government forces by the time of the Battle of Jarama.  A group of about five Lincoln Brigade soldiers was caught in an open field when several German-supplied (and possibly piloted) planes came by and turned around to make several strafing runs.  As one of the survivors put it, “we realized that we were up against an enormously supplied army as our resources were dwindling, that they could afford to waste that much ammunition on five of us.”

Well, nearly twenty thousand has been poured into the Brooks campaign against Mark Lovelace – lots of money into a campaign which really doesn’t have a prayer.

At this point, the progressives will be scrambling to raise their own money.  It’s going to be a rough ride, unless you’re selling ads for the local media.
