This Obama quote is excerpted from somewhere by TPM:

What we didn’t do was pretend that we could dictate the outcome in Egypt — because we can’t. So we were very mindful that it was important for this to remain an Egyptian event, that the United States did not become the issue …

Now this could either be a positive or a negative politically, depending on how it works out.  But I would expect the Carter comparisons from the right.  It was Jimmy Carter who inspired the Clash lyrics of Washington Bullets.  Late in the song:

For the very first time ever,
When they had a revolution in Nicaragua,
There was no interference from America
Human rights in America

Well the people fought the leader,
And up he flew…
With no Washington bullets what else could he do?

Given the isolationist tendencies of the Tea Party who have the GOP leadership running scared, can this be a transformative moment in US foreign policy?

About WMD’s. He did it to oust Hussein.  Duh.

I’m sure Bush, Cheney, and company will now offer their heartfelt apologies for going to war on a lie.

Thanks to Kym for bringing it to our attention.
