It may actually be even more serious, though not as sexy.  Certainly it has more significance to your daily life, if you consume media.

In short a House investigation has found the FCC guilty of “eggregious abuses of power.”  With the Illinois governor making the headlines, this probably wont’ ripen into an issue until the new Congress is seated next year, especially as the details are scant at the moment.

(Democratic) Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been arrested under suspicion of trying to sell Obama’s vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder.  He’s also accused of trying to misuse power to get certain members of the Chicago Tribune editorial board fired, and a few other items of corruption.

If convicted of any crime, he’ll be the second Illinois governor in a row to go that route.

Addendum: So far there’s no statement from Obama, but the media is reporting that it may have been Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel who squealed on the governor.  Lots of info and a video through this link.  Obviously the investigation began before this conversation shortly after the election, so they were obviously looking into other issues.

Meanwhile, this will probably backfire.  Look before you leap guys.

Second addendum: Who is “Senate Candidate 5?”

Third addendum: Rahm denies he snitched.

And here’s a clip on Obama being “fortunate in his enemies.”  Blagojevich probably didn’t intend it so, but he did Obama a big favor.

The actual quote:

“F**k him,” Blagjoveich says of Obama during a lengthy call with top aides and his wife recorded on November 10th, “For nothing? F**k him.”
