I asked Jim to write something up to liven the discussion. As I previously introduced him, he is a friend who is (I won’t say “conservative” again) an unapologetic secular right winger. I’ll respond later, probably after my trial. I will comment ahead of time that while Little Green Footballs is obsessed primarily with “Islamicism,” the threads contain extensive vitriol against the left, and liberal voices are censored enough that I feel it is fair to regard it as a right wing blog. In fact, as I retrieved the link the front page threads dealt with the GOP hopeful debate, the New Republic, and Daily Kos. Perhaps you’ll disagree.

By the way, according to the Wikipedia narrative, Johnson was liberal until 911. Has he expressed liberal views recently? I don’t know. I go by the content on his blog.

I don’t know if this fits your requirement or not, but I was noticing something common and indicative about your rather pedestrian attack on O’Reilley: the mention of Little Green Footballs.

Hmm. It seems they come into everyone’s storybook on the Right-Media these days, and one must wonder why: I go there several times a day and read, oh, probably half the links there (all with the exception of straight news items with simple storylines, in other words). So I have to wonder: why are you, like everyone else, obsessed with the LGF website?

First off, it’s barely about the Left at all. What portion of it is directly relates to the warblogging, not any broadside on the Left (which suits Charles Johnson just fine, as he is, well, a liberal. People kinda forget that). His focus is almost entirely Islamic psychotics and their enabling agents; which, granted contains some elements of the Left, but not much.

Go looking at an average day: I can say I’ve done this for…what? A thousand days in a row now, give or take a holiday or new-girlfriend day here or there? I know the blog. It doesn’t have the Left as its subject.

So why the obsessive interest in the blog, the writings, and especially the commenter’s? It’s about Islam. And yet it’s your center of attack.

Once again, it’s easy: the Left and the Islamists are in real alliance. They have the same center of hate in the US (no progressive love of country anymore, not for this heap).

Eric, this is you. The alliance is not some fictional thing, but with and among the very people who make arguments denying it: you are close political allies with raving right wing godloons in order to be against a domestic political opponent and the US.

I do remember the Illiach Ramierez, the Jackal, after he’d gotten caught by the treacherous French prison system -(which seems intent on trying some random 6 months worth of his terrorism every decade until he actually does end up spending the rest of his life in prison; a creative way of getting around the EU’s ‘no life term / everyone gets rehabilitated’ sentencing “guidelines” the EU requires. Just keep trying him for crimes until he dies) -the first thing he does is go towely.

Quick Mike, a list of the recent Leftist converts to Islam.

What gets me about all this is the enthusiasm with which you have taken up Islam /brown people arguments when they hardly even exist ideologically. You used to give the phrases up like “It was understandable Phillip Ageee would convert”. You know. Due to the exquisite reasoning you sometimes still claims exists on the Left (while quickly getting off the topic of recent leftist brilliance, I note).

But the Islamists have none of it: they’re completely out to sea in even the meanest and lowliest scrub arguments between Western rationalist ideological opponents. They do nothing except hammer the most beautifully incompatible circles into squares when they try using your warmed over “imperialist/ oppressed minority” rhetoric: for one, they’re the imperialists and the oppressors.

But y’all manage! No matter how stupid the ally, no matter how completely you don’t fit, you take the brown people over your stated enemies any old day. Hence the statement: “unknowing anti-imperialists”.

And when I say you take “the brown people”, I don’t mean that racially. You do. All you -your side, I mean- care about is the Islamists’ skin. It’s your base motivation. When you complain that the LGF’ers are actually racist, you’re merely expressing the flip side of the reason you’ve made them allies: for you it’s because the Muslims are brown, so you want to make it the reason your enemies hate them too. It’s your narrative: the only narrative you understand is the one where the pale ones oppress the darker ones. It’s in your interest to take whatever meager evidence of whatever marginal entities hanging around the edges of LGF and make them its defining characteristic: in other words, to lie.

It’s all of a trope. It’s all why you’re so clear: you don’t ever make that “I don’t mind their anti-radical Islamism, I just mind their anti-progressive attitudes”: no, never that. Instead, Johnson’s just your enemy. And the enemy of the types who go to SoHum Parlance. The Leftists, anyway. None of you are marginal. You really do represent the general Left here, Eric. Intelligent, measured, anti-American* and pro-Islamic terrorist.

Eric, this is you.

*- Please don’t construe this as patriotism. I am not a patriot. But…I don’t hate the US passionately.

As previously noted, Chauncey Bailey, editor of the Oakland Post was shot down recently. There were seven arrests at Your Black Muslim Bakery in Oakland. Bailey had been investigating their finances.

From the Chronicle article:

And it wasn’t the first time that journalists probing the group have confronted danger. Bailey, who was slain by a masked gunman near his office, had been investigating the organization’s finances, according to a Post representative.

In 2002, after the East Bay Express, a weekly paper, published a series of articles documenting a history of violence by bakery members, the series’ reporter, Chris Thompson, was threatened and followed, says East Bay Express editor and co-owner Stephen Buel. For his own safety, Thompson worked in a different county for months after the series ran.

“When we first published our stories, we received a bunch of letters to the editor congratulating us on writing a story that had long needed to be written, but we also got a brick through our window and had a number of folks start shadowing the building and driving around and following some of our employees after they left the building,” Buel said Friday, hours after authorities raided Your Black Muslim Bakery as part of an investigation into a series of killings, robberies and assaults.

According to Indymedia one of the suspects has confessed.

On August 4th, Devaughndre Broussard, 19, was booked at North County Jail in Oakland in connection with the shooting. Broussard was a handyman at Your Black Muslim Bakery and has reportedly “confessed to having shot and killed Bailey with a shotgun because he was upset with the journalist’s coverage of the group.” In 2002, the East Bay Express wrote a two-part series about the Yusuf Bey “family”, which runs the bakery. The articles included past allegations of murder, torture, kidnapping, rape, and other crimes (see The Sinister Side of Yusuf Bey’s Empire and How Official Oakland Kept the Bey Empire Going). In November 2005, Yusef Bey IV and several others were recorded smashing alcohol in several Oakland liquor stores (reports 1 | 2).

Chauncey Bailey was an editor for the Oakland Post from June 2007 until his death. Bailey had previously worked as a reporter for The Oakland Tribune, and before that The Detroit News for ten years. Bailey had been known for his assertive style of questioning city officials. Oakland Police spokesman Ronald Holmgren said: “I know him as being a somewhat outspoken type individual, assertive in his journalistic approach when trying to get at matters at hand.”

Shades of the Black Panther controversy regarding the death of one of their bookkeepers circa 1974, only this time the progressive media is covering it. I hope this brings the organization down.
