Eric: Thanks for sharing this. On what album is this number? Do you know the names in this group; might they be Wynton Kelly, piano, Paul Chambers, bass, and Jo Jones, drums?

This is from A Love Supreme which was performed IIAC only once live, in France. The snippet of film is from that performance and the personnel is that of the classic quartet, with McCoy Tyner on piano with his inimitably percussive style.

Jazz went through an explosive growth period from 1940–70 with many genuises like Coltrane. Sadly, we have only bits and pieces on video, perhaps because of the prevailing racist atmosphere.
