I did what you asked Eric and looked up the SoHum Parks plans for housing at the CP and you are right, but it’s not called ‘Infill’, it was called ‘Multi-family Housing’. However it don’t appear to have plans for building anything just now, only wanting everything zoned accordingly like you plan on selling it after it becomes approved and included for GSD services and housing development by the County. That 3 to 5 acres should bring in a nice chunk of change to pay off the debt and then some.

I am not ed, eric. I didn’t know that you were talking about Garberville. I don’t consider Garberville as “next” to the park. How many miles is the park from town? It is definitely NOT “next” to it. Sorry for appearing dumb, really sorry that you think I am ed. Is that why my posts are getting moderated? Because you think I’m ed?

Funny how there is not a comment on how the pot growers have impacted the deer population!

As far back as the mid 80′s SoHum pot growers would shoot deer, mommy deer, daddy deer, and baby deer, just because they were snacking on the pot! And don’t try to deny it Eric. You weren’t even here in the mid 80′s. Who knows how many thousands or tens of thousands of deer were killed by pot growers, directly or indirectly, since the 80′s?!!!!

Who really knows what all the fertilizers and rat poisnon did to the deer population,

eric, Would you please explain your last paragraph? It sounds like you are saying that the compact housing at the park was going to be next to a large cluster of housing and businesses(in the park)?

At one point the park board said they would build “senior housing” at the park. Trying to trudge up that windey road to town would take care of the overpopulation of babyboomers. Be like what happens to the deer.

I wouldn’t call housing at the park infil, while better than building farther out, it is not walkable (by most people’s standards) to shops and whatnot in town.

Well, it’s a moot point anyway. We have been discussing taking the housing off the table due to some issues which have come up (which is why I prefaced by saying that we don’t know what the EIR will look like by the time we’re done), and I’m told that it’s been discussed with the GSD in the Sphere of Influence hearings. But we can discuss all this once the EIR is completed.

The point was that in the original proposal, the housing was to be compact, and near a large cluster of housing and business. I agree the walk would be difficult for many people, but I don’t believe that is a strict criteria for in-fill.

It is the inexorable creep of man… just a few houses, just a few subdivisions. Developing housing at the park is not “infill”, it is housing development and urbanization.There are deer, eagles, ospreys, coyotes there. Many people thought we were protecting wildlife habitat when we donated to buy the park, since that was what we were told.
. Go down to the city…there aren’t even birds, let alone deer.
. It’s all about man and money.
Check out Garberville Sanitary District’s plan to urbanize a thousand more acres of what used to be rural. Once in the district, urbanization is coming. Suck the river dry and say good-by to the animals. They just have to sacrifice themselves for man and money.
