I haven’t really seen Marian Brady speak before, but I’m certain this isn’t one of her best moments. Okay, she likes billboards and motorcycles. Was it necessary to slam another’s cultural milieu while crying for diversity?
I wouldn’t be quite offended but for my seven-year-old daughter’s passion for the instrument. I guess it’s probably okay since she’s a girl, as long as she gets over it at some point.
Lost Coast Outpost reports with a video.
Addendum: Use a cello, go to jail.
Second addendum: Okay, since Hank didn’t like the nude woman with the cello photo, I’m replacing it with a photo of my daughter. Wholesome family values and all – my little elitist in training.

Unfortunately we have grown used to this level of snarkyness from Hank but Eric It is more than a little disheartening to see you lower yourself to being Sims peer. You are and can do better.

It’s not purely snark anonymous. I really do think her comment was petty. If she expects tolerance, she should display it.
How should my daughter take the comment? Is she a seven year old elitist because she plays the cello?
Hank – There’s a cello in the photo, so that makes it art.

suzy blah blah
-suzy clearly understands her Ms Brady’s intonation and totally agrees with her point. Cellos indeed carry an air of snobbery with them, while on the other hand, billboards are down to earth good ol’ americana expression. Im not ashamed to admit that i enjoy looking at their bright cheerful colors and inventive visuals and lettering techniques while traveling. Unfortunately, we have an overabundance of overbearing and snooty wannabes in this area who persist in pretentiously and neurotically feigning to be “cultured”.

I agree with Mitch Eric. It is a much better photo and much more in tune with your point.

Don’t forget that they cover the shamefulness of nekkid trees.

WHAT? Who’s saying I didn’t like that photo?!?
On the contrary.
Also: Update.

Not to worry Mitch, oftentimes these business arrangements are made so as to accommodate you by situating the artwork so that there’s a tree in front of the billboard
So you see, everything is good. Except, of course, in the cases where the tree might distract you, or Hank

Who is the girl wearin’ nothing but a smile and a towel
In the picture on the billboard in the field near the big ol’ highway?
Rollin’ down the highway in my Jimmy hauling freight
From Chicago to St. Louis, Lord I see her everyday
A double clutchin’ weasel like me can hardly ever
Get a girl to look at him that way
Smiling like the girl wearin’ nothing but a smile and a towel
In the picture on the billboard in the field near the big ol’ highway

Hank, maybe Eric would be able to tell you if thats a true conservative country song, or not. I dont know, maybe its some kinda elitist liberal satire thats over suzys head. But hey, i can agree on one thing for sure, it totally aint the viewpoint of no dandy.

I kinda liked the original picture, as art of course.
And, speaking of songs, your 7 year old daughter will get exposed to way more titilating stuff listening to modern pop music on the radio and downloads. Female artists seem to sing mostly about getting drunk and doing the nasty stuff, while male artists sing mostly about getting girls drunk and doing the nasty stuff. Bottoms Up!!!, S&M, Take It Off, etc. Never heard of a cello being involved, though.

“Okay! No more naked breasts on the blog! I hear you!”
Dang it! I’m losing it. I didn’t notice the nudity…
I would like to say, most respectfully, that Eric’s daughter is beautiful. He must be very proud. I hope that she continues to be fond of the cello. Southern Humboldt has excellent music programs in the school. They are mostly funded privately and through small contributions from the Garberville Rotary Club.

Thanks Ernie and anonymous. Yes, Lilith is beautiful. A great gymnast and soccer player as well.
