Rolling Stone reports that his office is bomb proof to protect him from Muslims and gays.
Inside his blast-resistant office at Fox News headquarters, Ailes keeps a monitor on his desk that allows him to view any activity outside his closed door. Once, after observing a dark-skinned man in what Ailes perceived to be Muslim garb, he put Fox News on lockdown. “What the hell!” Ailes shouted. “This guy could be bombing me!” The suspected terrorist turned out to be a janitor. “Roger tore up the whole floor,” recalls a source close to Ailes. “He has a personal paranoia about people who are Muslim – which is consistent with the ideology of his network.”
A fascinating read. The last sentence of the article may very well be the epitaph of Republican moderation.

When has there ever been ANY “Republican moderation,” except in your mind?

Do you mean FOX News, the most watched news network in America? That FOX News?!
Imagine someone in NY City having an office protected from a bomb blast? How unreasonalbe. Isn’t that what is referred to as a safe room?
Eric your bias is, as usual, overwhelming.

Actually, they are the most watched cable news. All of the cable networks together don’t even approach the ratings of one of the broadcast networks. The cable networks go for niche audiences, and Fox’s is obviously very large. But then so is the National Enquirer’s.
And yeah, I guess in light of all those gay-terror bombings in NYC, the bunker sounds reasonable.

Fox is the most watched cable news network because it is the most available and the most dumbed down. Their viewers don’t have to think because it is views presented as opposed to news and it is repeated over and over to make it easy for them to memorize the talking points. They don’t win the booby prize for the most uninformed viewers without reason.

Actually, I think it’s the most watched because there is a large conservative subculture which feels oppressed and it provides a home for them where they don’t have to feel uncomfortable with the spin. It’s provides them a place of comfort.
But there is another element of their success. They have fine-tuned the entertainment portion. There is lots of yelling, insulting, and drama, in contrast to the McNeil-Lehrer report which tends to put you to sleep whether you agree with the spin or not. People say they don’t like it, but they do. And now the other stations are emulating it, and MSNBC found it’s niche evening audience as well – not as larges as Fox’s, but large enough.

At least MSNBC viewers don’t test at the very bottom on knowledge of current events. Can’t they make it entertaining and factual?

Yes, us gays are known for our explosive personalities?!?
I realize the activism of the 80′s was considerably militant in comparison to today’s, but they have to realize that there was an epidemic of death that wasn’t being addressed.
Oh, and I watch the PBS News Hour riveted every night (guess I’m an abnormal 25 year old). They’ve made it considerably more entertaining over the last few years, please note the name change as well.

Jane you ignorant slut! (can’t help myself, that was one of Dan Akroids best, and applies nicely to Plain Jane).
Conservative subculture that feels oppressed ?!! That is funny. You need to get out of California more Eric.
I have never seen CBS, NBC allow someone with an opposing view have their say openly as Fox News does. Sometimes it really pisses me off when Hannity doesn’t throw a shoe at Bob Beckle, but that’s what makes Fox News fair and balanced.
Plain Jane needs to change her handle if she is to continue posint like an *&&^%^$^, my opinion.

Or maybe its that they want to feel oppressed. Its funny to me how many of those people are the most in need of the very things their base seeks to destroy, i.e. health care, education, and social services.
