Thanks to Mitch for the link. There is a cryptic reference towards the bottom of the article to some supporters’ who believe that he was framed through a gay and lesbian conspiracy, but it lacks specifics.

No, we weren’t that lucky.

Joel. If this sort of hate comment were made from a straight person to a gay you would come down on that group/entity with a vengeance. Your comment is really hateful. Way to go to further your cause.

Sorry Anonymous, but as far as I know, Buju Banton may be gay. Why would that make a difference?

Jim
I agree, the comment was just as mean spirited and self-righteous as the viewpoints you oppose.
I’m all for boycotting artists that spew hate, in any form. I feel Buju brought a lot on himself and continued “the war with the gays” to his detriment. Some of the other stuff that has happened in this war I haven’t agreed with at all, making me ashamed of the side I support. That includes Joel’s comments.
I also feel that I can’t really make a determination on the case without knowing very particular facts that only those involved know, and that the jury definitely didn’t have those in making their decision. I don’t know what he is capable of, probably anything; and know that Florida narcotics cops are very loose with the truth and set-ups. Maybe he will pull a Jah Cure and get out in a few years and be more popular than ever, sigh…

I’m sure that Mr. Banton would treasure the sensitivity that you’ve accorded him. I’ll continue to think of him as a rank bigot, regardless of his legal difficulties.
