The post is funny, but it perpetuates a common misunderstanding. Parks did not refuse to sit in the back of the bus. She was sitting in the back of the bus. The white seats were all full and she was being told to give up her back-of-the-bus seat for a white man. This is important, because it revealed “separate but equal” as a myth in that there was no equality – express or implied.
The form of political satire I think began with Alex Cockburn back in the 1980s with a piece about Nightline and how they would have covered the slavery dispute.
