Everything Southern Humboldt and more
These are young conservatives, and the guy is still sore after a break-up with the woman next to him so he tears into her, with a smile and forced wit calling her everything from soulless to sadistic. I have to say, she showed amazing restraint. Few would have blamed her if she had lived up to his description of her right then and there.
There’s a creepiness to the whole thing, but it’s riveting.

I would have liked to hear what she thought people shouldn’t be allowed to do to each other given her obvious sadism (to build character). It sounded like they were talking about a paper she wrote and he went personal. If half of what he said about her was true, he probably attacked her with cameras rolling so she couldn’t go all “fight club” on him, but without any context as to the purpose of this forum, it’s hard to judge either of them.

I found the whole program. They were discussing Jonah Goldberg’s book “Proud to be Right.” Seavey and Rittelmeyer broke up 3 days before the forum.

Ummm. Was she initially attracted to him by that ad? I wonder if he got any other responses.
My favorite ad was read over KMUD a few years ago: “Single woman seeks a mammal with a day job.” But for her probably liberal politics (having posted it in the SF Bay Guardian), they might be a match.

Maybe she thought a relationship with him would be character building. On the other hand, for a person looking for constant conflict he would be a dream guy.
