A friend of mine recently received a prescription for ear drops and went to collect it. A small bottle was priced at $220.00. He refused to pay it, but took the opportunity to read the “active ingredients.” The ingredients are hydrocortizone and acetic acid (basically vinegar). He intends to mix up his own, costing him a few bucks with plenty of each ingredient left over.
Somebody want to try to blame Obamacare?

So Eric, your point is because these eardrops are expensive now Obamacare is OK or Good ?
You can’ be serious. Do yo read/watch the news? Out of ALL of the congress and senate that voted for Obamacare NONE have mentioned it (Obamacare) in the politicking for the 2010 elections. And why is that? You know it’s because Obamacare was and is the Big Lie. If Obambacare is such a great thing you’d expect the Dem’s to be pounding their chests about the good they have done by passing Obamacare and touting it as a reason to vote Democrat. But that isn’t happening, they don’t even want to touch on that subject. None of the Dem’s are banging the drum for cap and trade right now either!
Even your favorite “progressive” (socialist) Obama himself has recently admitted that the cost of Obamacare is going t be much higher than origionally anticipated ( imagine that ) !
Maybe you should worry about how much those eyedrops are going to cost a year into Obamacare? That is IF Obamacare isn’t tossed for constitutioally issues soon
Hope and Change ! ha ha ha ha ha

Huh? I’m not following the logic of the question.
As for whether Obamacare is good, it’s unpopular because nobody has seen the benefits yet. I agree that it was so watered down it’s hard for the Democrats to come up with a narrative as to how people will benefit when hardly anything’s kicked in yet. And Obama and the Democrats are probably regretting that he caved on the public option. If a public option had been in place and installed by now, the bottle would be priced at about 5 bucks tops.

If your friend was filling his scrip at the pharmacy in Garberville, the $220 ear drops might be only $10 at the Costco pharmacy. I’ve personally seen that big a difference in pricing for my own meds. And, Costco will ship them to you for free, plus you need not be a member to use the pharmacy.

He’s in Eureka, but thanks. I don’t know which pharmacy he used. But he’s content to buy his own hydro-cortizone and vinegar, though I’ll let him know about Costco if he doesn’t already know.

But we don’t have a public option Eric. Lieberman and the wimpy Democrats killed it, remember?

You don’t have to remind me Anonymous. I guess in that sense you can blame it on “Obamacare.” But somehow I don’t think that was the point of Anonymous 6:22.

Without a public option or price controls the reforms are meaningless because the industry will just price people out.

You are right on that point Eric, that is not what I meant.
Let me put in very simple common sense terms; Because of “Obamacare” heatlh insurance and healthcare costs ARE going to go up. And go up by more thatn 10%, probably more than 20%.
At least go up for regular working class tax paying citizens.

Every insured American is paying already paying for uninsured Americans when they need catastrophic health care by using emergency services. We are all paying for it through our taxes. Insurance mandate system is the first step towards a better health care system in the United States. The change may be small, but gradual changes are long-lasting. Health care needs to be improved in this country and the one way to do it, is by national health care reform.

Yes, and if they had enacted a public option based upon Medicare, they would be going down. The insurance industry has made a killing during the recession, precisely because the government lets them do it.

““progressive” (socialist) Obama himself….” What are you, a Tea Bagger? Obama is a tool of the rich. He is not a progressive. And speaking as a Socialist; it’s an insult to try and paint him as one. Oh if only..
What’s next, proof that “The Jews” are causing local birth defects?

Insurance costs are going up because insurance companies are colluding with prices. That is why they are the most profitable industry.

Moviedad you need to get out more. Read more, research more, and maybe change your handle to Drama Queen.

Well, insurance costs go up because there is very little effective regulation at the state or federal level. The timing of these latest increases is a bit suspect.
