I thought this was already decided!
Environmentalist Bill McKibbin is meeting with White House officials to discuss the return of solar panels to the White House. This Kos post has many of the details.
President Jimmy Carter had installed solar panels (for a solar thermal water heater) during his term to symbolically promote the idea of alternative energy and give the industry a boost. President Ronald Reagan removed them.
The Kos post contains some links to action items.
Apparently Mckibbin owns the original Carter panels, but a California company is offering to install state-of-the-art panels for free.
Obama’s team has hesitated for some time now, saying “it’s complicated.” But as McKibbin points out, it’s not something that can be filibustered. It’s really not complicated.
Here’s a video mini-documentary on the old panels.
