But if it does,
nothing ever gets reported.

Mitch – I have to admit, it’s a good dig.

Hank is more than welcome to move to Oakland or Portland if he thinks he would be happier there.

That’s not what he said Matt.

He complains about the state of affairs here and he describes Oakland as “a bright spot” and a “vibrant city”. It sounds like a case of “the grass is always greener…”

He’s talking about one aspect in which he considers the culture of Oakland to be perhaps more evolved than ours. Obviously there are many considerations in a decision of residence. I much prefer the Chinese Food which is available in Oakland to anything available in Humboldt County. I miss the cultural diversity. I miss the availability of theater, museums, and a slew of other activities. But obviously they aren’t enough to make me want to live there.

Humboldt would be so much better if people had let Maxxam plunder Pacific Lumber and its ancient redwoods without a fight.
And this whole Balloon Track Wal-Mart thing? Let’s just lay down and let it happen without complaint.
Hank is the only middle-of-the-roader in an extreme county of straw people who want all or nothing. How difficult it must be.

“But obviously they aren’t enough to make me want to live there.”
Nor write an editorial about it in the NCJ
