This is a free event! The party will be going from noon to dusk. Redway Drive will be closed to traffic between Redwood Drive and Empire Lane, so there will be room to move. There will be food and drink for sale, Moses of Barbecue To You will be grilling meat and vegetarian items; there will be beer and wine, and of course, birthday cake.
Music all afternoon into evening! Clear The Room Band; Out of the Blue with Beth Wells and Andy Barnett, Trainwect with Bud Rogers; 4 Peace is a rock band from Laytonville; Bell Bottom Bob and his band Crossroads; Quantum is a latin flavored rock band; Ambush, a soca band with Sanou; SoHum Girls; Aeon Now is a trio that includes accordion and saw; Mark Growden just recently performed at the Garberville Civic Club with his banjo, accordion, and handlebar; and closing out the evening will be the innovative sound of Orphan, combining saxophone, marimba, horns, singing, pieces of metal, and the totally unexpected.
Once again there will be a huge CD and record sale, there are thousands of titles to choose from, and all genres of music.
For the kids Puff the Jumping Dragon will be here, and there will be other entertainment. A ping pong tournament is planned as well, so start practicing now! And, just added: we will have a dunk tank, so a word to other local “celebrities:” dress accordingly!
There is still time to get booth space for vendors, please contact Cindy Martin at KMUD (923-2513 ext. 124) and get on the list. Volunteers are needed for this event, so if you’d like to put in a few hours, please call Cindy for that as well, or send an email to volunteers@kmud.org
Everyone at Redwood Community Radio is looking forward to celebrating KMUD’s 23rd birthday with you!
If you’d like to print out the 11×17″ poster, get it here.

Board of KMUD politics which never change
why was the general manager recently fired?
Vindictive micromanaging busybodies on the board.
and why was KMUDS last fundraiser $30,000 shy of it’s goal?
Economic depression.

maybe they didn’t care that much about the goal (30,000 less than) because that generous listener in laytonville just died and left her land to KMUD…does anyone know how much the land is worth, if its a nice house and etc?. is it going to be sold?…
does anyone know why the general manager was fired?…
is it our right to know, as members?…si? no?

No. Personnel matters are private. She can share the reasons if she wants, but I believe that KMUD is bound by labor law to respect her privacy. I would prefer to respect it as well.
If there are larger issues and Brenda wants to make it all public, then I would be willing to allow this forum for discussion on the subject. But I don’t want to be a party to anything which violates her privacy rights.

omg you are such a bullsh*tter……..I guess it depends on the person you may want to protect OR NOT because you have had NO PROBLEM violating peoples privacy in the past if they werent a crony of yours.
as far as kmud being short $30,000, they have been consistently hemorrhaging more and more community support for some time now and the infighting at kmud is unbearable, that’s why kmud is constantly begging for people to come around and get involved but then they succumb to kmuds “circular firing squad”
people have better nonprofits to give their $$ to that actually serves the WHOLE community

Crony of mine? I have cronies?
So can you give me an example of someone’s privacy I violated? I’d really like to know so I can avoid it in the future. Did I violate yours?

Hey, I’ll be a Cronie. But seriously…KMUD’s personnel issues are its own. I take issue with anyone trying to put it out there that the station is in trouble, or the people suck, or whatever misinformation some want to put forth.
KMUD is Free Speech; Period. I volunteer for the station because it is doing the one thing that I know is powerful, they inform.
The late Edward Said, David Barsamian, Ward Churchill (yeah right), Vundula Siva, Chomsky, Scott Ridder, Amy Goodman, I could go on. These are the people who risk their lives to present the side of things that Corporate Media is working hard to make sure you never hear, and where do you hear it? KMUD.
This station deserves the support, real support; of every thinking, non-propaganda loving person in the listening area.
It seems some would rather further the aims of the Plutocracy, by attacking the one local source of information outside the media lockdown.
