What was he thinking? Poor judgment isn’t the half of it. He must never have read Rolling Stone and certainly didn’t read the McCain piece or he would have been more guarded….one would hope.

I think he has distain for Obama and some of his Pentagon puppets, and could no longer keep his yap shut.
The guy’s no angel. Check out Humboldtage’s blog today.
He’s just a lifer who should have stayed out of politics. It doesn’t change the fact that he’s probably our best tactician in real world combat. His popularity among the troops tells you something. His military record backs up that competancy.
I’m just saying…

Dave – I’m sure he didn’t get to be general on his good looks. But Obama really didn’t have a choice. If he’d let it slide he would have lost the respect of pretty much all of the military. Soldiers of lower ranks have been court martialed for less. It has to be firmly understood that the military serves the civilian government, and not vice-versa.

As a veteran who spent a year on he ground in Viet Nam I often wondered how these West Point boys all get a chest full of ribbons . I think Colin Powell was the last big time general to have actually got his boots muddy in combat. Maybe he and Stormin Norman Swartskopf. Obama’s got too much on his plate to indulge a fool.

Pertreaus (?) is no better. It’s scary that both are black-ops killers. I say Obama needs to promote Scott Ridder to head the military. He’s the only American military man that has proven he has integrity, and cares more for the country than he does for his own interests. Anyone remember him? What a true hero. I wish Obama had some of his courage. But alas….

Colonel Douglas MacGregor has suggested that the entire general staff should be canned. It took a lot of optimistic pep talks from top brass to keep Bush and Obama believing in a “winning” strategy in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Going after (sacking) Gen. McChrystal at this time in the war is a knee-jerk response that represents something far more insidious than the supposed complications of some comments by a few disgruntled officers. With the way all the political leaders, Republican and Democrats alike, came together on this with Pres. Obama I’d say their worried about a far deeper problem with the military and the potential threat to civilian rule. They’re scared and probably with good reason. Forced to fight long illegal and illegitimate wars does bad things to the psyche. Not to mention what it does to America’s legitimacy either.

Scott Ritter may be a hero to some, but not to the parents of the children he has abused (“allegedly,” of course). Check out his sordid history by googling the appropriate words.

What the fuck does Scott Ritter have to do with anything?
