Republican party leaders are starting to quietly voice concerns about their future in light of the dramatic rise of the ideological right control of the party. They are polling at their lowest in a decade and some of them are worried that their candidate in 2012 might be someone like Palin or Romney. Looks like some of the more mainstream Republicans want to do something about it.
So what would it take to rig the primaries for Olympia Snowe to get nominated?
Meanwhile, Republicans have it in for Alan Grayson who has single-handedly altered the framework of debate in everything from health care to climate change. They’re complaining about the tone of his rhetoric. Here the Republicans have been screaming about “death panels,” while accusing Obama of defrauding the country with a fake birth certificate, and comparing the White House’s sniping at Fox to the holocaust, and one or two members of the Democratic Congressional caucus acts even remotely like them they wig out.
Meanwhile, if Snowe manages to sink a real public option as enabled by a wimpy White House position, she may have troubles at home.

With 79% of seniors supporting creating a new strong Government-run public option plan (Medicare Plus 5), available immediately. Including 89% of Democrats, 80% of Independents, and 61% of Republicans, STUNNING!!
It’s not just because it will lower cost. Because a strong public option (Medicare Plus 5) will dramatically lower cost for everyone. And dramatically improved the quality of care everyone receives in America and around the World. Rich, middle class, and poor a like.

While the wolves tear at your flesh, and rip you limb from lib. Then feast on your lifeless bodies like a dead carcase for transplant parts.
At the most vulnerable times of your lives (when you were sick and hurting), millions of you have had to fight and loose cruel, but heroic battles. I don’t understand the whole obsession over the Snowe vote even from a wimpy perspective. One vote doesn’t make the bill “bipartisan” and the Democrats will have to take the blame if it fails regardless of how she votes. It looks like Pelosi is pulling together a “robust” public option on her side, which means that the opt-out provision should be the beginning of a negotiation from the Senate side. Baucus was flipping out last week because he really thought that his bill would be the starting position to water down even further for Snowe’s vote and Lieberman/Nelson/Conrad who all oppose the public option but don’t want to be put into the uncomfortable position of voting that way.
