The Eureka Times Standard was at the Board of Supes meeting yesterday, but apparently decided that the housing element, finally in the hands of the supes, wasn’t worthy of coverage. Fortunately Heraldo has a report.

Why are homesteads excluded from consideration for low income housing?

Heraldo
Too bad. I was expecting them to fill in the gaps.
Maybe they ignored it because no action was taken.

Because to do so the county would have to allow homes in the rural areas. The housing element provides for NO as in NONE or ZERO homes in areas outside of urban development zones. Are you starting to see the writing on the wall?

Does the housing element prohibit them?
Let me just add that I don’t support allowing the county off the hook by designating rural homes as low income when it’s really not an option for low income people who have 40 hour jobs. That would mean less designated low income homes for people who need them.
