From a supporter:
Cameron Varnell’s Baseball Benefit:
Please come to Redway baseball field this Saturday, July 11th at 4:30 to support Cameron Varnell and his family. We will be serving delicious food with highlights including Cecil’s BBQ pork sandwiches, Angie’s potato salad, and corn on the cob. The Southern Humboldt Little League snack shack will be open and we will have hot dogs, drinks and other snack items. We also will have cupcakes from Amillia’s, and other baked goods.
The baseball part of the event will start with a home run derby and then children will begin playing baseball in honor of their teammate Cameron who was diagnosed with Leukemia. Cameron is currently receiving chemo treatment at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
All donations to this event will go to Cameron and his family. Donations will also be accepted at the Community Credit Union of Southern Humboldt in an account, No. 13885.
Thank you for supporting Cameron Varnell.
The Redwood Times has more of Cameron’s story. With all the divide in this community over issues of much less significance, I hope it can come together for Cameron.

It is true, there are always so many grand ventures in our small community. Donating to different causes does not require attendance or participation at the actual event; more importantly, however, is what each one of us can do each day.
Every single day, we can take 3 minutes (over coffee, or tooth brushing in the morning or even as we fall asleep at night) and envision healing in particular people or even organizations or situations. I encourage you to do this specifically with Cameron. The chemotherapy will eradicate the cancer, but our love, prayers and intentional energy is what will make him whole and healthy.
So attend the Hospice benefit (by all means), honor Helen Murrish, go to Persimmon’s, stop by Cecil’s for the late show AND share the love. Know that while there will never be enough time to do it all, you can certainly be part of the light… it’s in you! And thank you all for all of your light and intentions.
