In general, I don’t believe the scare tactics on either side. Humboldt is not about to drive all it’s existing rural residents into dense urban housing. That just ain’t gonna happen. By the same token, Humboldt’s rural lands are not going to be converted into endless suburbnan sprawl just because a relatively small number of people people want to live on 160 acre parcels.

On a more specific note: the requirement that you can’t have a composting toilet and greywater system unless you also have a septic tank / leaching field is completely asinine. If you have a proper composting toilet and a functional greywater system then obviously you don’t need a septic system. This seems to be a thinly-veiled attempt to prevent rural living without being honest about it. That rule needs to be changed, ASAP!
