I’ll have my analysis and recomendations ready in a day or two, but here is a pdf quick reference guide put out by the Courage Campaign. Progressive organizations seem divided on all of the props, which isn’t a good sign for them if the conservatives have any significant degree of consensus. That is, unless the conservatives are on the side of the angels. Happens sometimes.

Well gee! California is in almost unamimous agreement that we are all going to vote “NO” on every proposition. Dems, Repubs, Libs and Conservs. It looks like they are having a special election to confirm what they already know. I have a bunch of good reasons for voting NO, but it would appear to be preaching to the choir.
It will, indeed, be interesting to see what your take is on the election.

We got a flyer from someone good (I’m not home so I can’t look at it) suggesting no on all but 1, and who cares on that one. So unless something happens I’m No on all.

My first comment sounded harsh, It wasn’t intended to be.
It sure looks bad for the props though. I can understand why the teachers are all for it. My heart goes out to them.

After my experience living in Colorado with their ‘TABOR’ (taxpayer bill of rights) cap there is no way in h*ll I can support 1A it is a straight jacket with a ton of unintended consequences.

My initial reaction is the same as all you folks – vote No on all the props but some one pointed out that voting No on one of them actually means a yes…
Just got my information booklet yesterday so it looks like I’ll have to do some droll reading to make sure I’ve got it right when I go to the poll.
Essentially I feel we need to learn to live within our “budget” and stop the wallet hemorrhage. Rather than keep sending our tax revenues to Sacramento I feel we should keep all we can here. I think we have pretty good ideas on how to keep our own county solvent but not at the behest of the state government.

Ernie wrote, “…we are all going to vote “NO” on every proposition. “.
I should remind everyone that Prop 1F is a bit different than the others in that it doesn’t really deal with the budget, specifically. It just says that legislators can’t give themselves pay raises when we have a budget deficit. Seems like a no- brainer to most folks, although it probably will have little practical effect.
I suspect it was put in there simply to help give the whole slate of propositions a reform look, but I’ll certainly vote YES on that one.

Fred . . . I plan to do the same with respect to 1F.
as for the rest I will read carefully to be sure I don’t make a No means Yes mistake . . . thanks for the heads up on that Dawn!

If you check out the Tuesday post on my blog, I have links to two Lefty recommendations on 1A: One for, and one against.

The teacher’s union says to vote for 1a because it will get some funds into education.

That may well be a short-term result, but if you examine the experience in Colorado with what such spending caps you will see a very different picture. Search using ‘TABOR’ and the terms Colorado, and spending to get an idea. They just had to have a vote to suspend it.
It is a budgetary straightjacket that in the long run will do more harm than the short-term benefit is worth.
