I’m looking outside my office window. It’s been cloudy for the past couple of hours, but as I face southeast the setting sun behind me is shining onto the tree line just above the southern portion of Garberville east of the highway. The contrasts are beautiful. Wish I had a camera with me.
Anyway, “bring up” is a time afforded the Beginnings kids in “circle” when they can discuss the happenings of the day positive or negative. Basically in the roughly 6 or 7 weeks since I made the switchover to WordPress, the posted comments have declined in frequency, but the traffic has increased probably by about a third. I can only conclude that there are people who come here to read, who were turned off by the discussions on the previous format.
I’ve received mixed reviews about the change, but most have been positive. There has been very little interest in the Reggae threads, and although some of the political discussions have been somewhat intense, I’ve blocked most of the posts which have been outright disrespectful. One rather insistent blocked poster, who apparently doesn’t realize that his posts aren’t seeing light of day, has now made 150 attempts and whenever I bother to read them I’m personally grateful for the switch myself. There are a couple of additional blocked posters who have switched computers and identities, but their problem is they can’t control themselves very long. If they could, I wouldn’t care that they were posting.
Does this work for you, or are you missing the rough and tumble of the old format?
And am I spending too much time and space with national politics? I’m getting mixed reviews about that as well. The thing is, I post about what I’m thinking about. I don’t really have a particular mission in terms of content. It’s not even always about politics.
If you set up an account with WordPress, your first post will still go to the moderation page. Once I’ve approved your first post, usually you are free to go from there on, unless you get caught in one of my moderation dragnets. And some posts have been sent to moderation with no explanation I can come up with.
Hope your week is ending as nicely as mine.
“Thanks to Republican economic policies, the U.S. economy is robust and job creation is strong.”
You can read it on the economy page of the Republican National Committee website. I got the link from Talking Points Memo, which means it’ll probably be changed soon, and will probably blame Obama for the recession.
What ever happened to Tom Davis anyway? I guess he was sort of the Garfunkle of the pair.
Addendum: While his lawyers argue pretrial motions, Norm Coleman took up a day job.
Second addendum: Photocopy malfunction or is Coleman doctoring evidence?
