The TS has an an article on Carlos Quilez’ recent comments, though it’s not clear in what context they were made or where. He emphasizes conservation, preservation of the fishing industry, and smaller barges rather than larger container ships in the port future.
Meanwhile an Arcata resident is calling for re-election of both second and fifth district incumbents. A Blue Lake resident supports Pat Higgins up in the fifth.

A quiet follow-up in yesterday’s Times-Standard in the notorious dog case which has been a topic of discussion about Paul Gallegos’ leadership on this blog and in local papers. The Trinity County defendants were acquitted last week, although their defense was apparently that they were never responsible for the dogs as a matter of law. Gallegos previously decided not to pursue charges in this county. Gallegos inaction drew some criticism, to put it lightly.

Heraldo reports that the City of Novato has filed suit against the North Coast Railroad Authority to derail the train proposals through their town and for Brown Act violations.
