Before that, the Israeli government had enforced a news blackout on the story.Asked during a TV interview, Mr Netanyahu said: “When a prime minister does something that is important and necessary to Israel’s security … I give my backing.” He refused to give further details.

I’ve said before that I’ve had mixed feelings about the attack on Iraq in 1981. And every nation has the right to defend itself. But if you’re going to attack another country, you owe the rest of the world an explanation.
