That’s what Oregon Senator Gordon Smith says. The war had better turn around by then or Republicans might start supporting symbolic resolutions as well!

I’m more intrigued by this new proposition by Sens Robert Byrd and, yes, Hillary Clinton to revoke the war authorization. The constitutionality of the measure is in question, but quite frankly I question the constitutionality of Congress giving the president such a proxy in the first place.

Whatever else you want to say about her, give her credit for nerve. This one could backfire, which is why you have Sen. Dodd hemming and hawing about it.

Meanwhile, contrary to even my own expectations, the House Democrats intend to keep up the pressure.

Richard Marks is speculating on potential candidates to run against Roger. I was amused to see my name in his list of potentials.

A friend brought up the possibility today. I mentioned that someone asked me if I would be interested last week when I sat in for Ed for his KMUD show. I explained that I prefer to lob intellectual grenades from my ivory tower rather than get into the trenches of a supervisor race. As I reported my first response to my friend today, Jana interjected: “did you also tell them that your wife would strangle you in your sleep?”

On the other hand, my kids are as cute as they’re ever going to be now – ripe for photo-op exploitation!

That was a joke folks – hold the e-mails.

So now is the time to draft someone. Well, assuming that you oppose Rodoni’s re-election. I actually like the guy, but his philosophy is simply too far from mine to support. And his antics around the Tooby Ranch case and rather unprofessional confrontation with Wooley (also here) leave something to be desired.
