I just received an e-mail from a very credible source with the following sentence.
PP contract was terminated yesterday.
I don’t have any more at this time.
Addendum: In other Mateel news (I guess I’ve missed the news this week), the Mateel Center was burglarized on Tuesday. About $2500 (fund for Sherry Nelson) in cash was stolen, along with a computer. Files were rifled through as well, and a mess was left. They came in and out a back window.
Update: Okay, a few more details. Apparently after some very intense back-and-forth the Mateel decided to accept the resignation Carol offered at the general meeting. The confirming letter was delivered last night following a unanimous vote of the Board. According to two sources, the Mateel is in the process of signing up another producer for the event.

I guess Carol was serious about wanting to retire rather than work with the Mateel…

Sad to hear about all this discord in Sohum. Thanks for the updates.

According to Bob Stern’s interview with Estelle on KMUD news; for the temporary time of one year only, it’ll now be known as the Ma-Heal.

Where did this letter come from? Is this an official letter to the community and the coordinators? When will they Mateel contact each individual coordinator or are we to contact the Mateel? Can you shed some light on this Eric.

I think this is a letter for the press. from what i understand themateel can’t contact coordinators becasue People productions holds that information and hasn’t/won’t release it to the mateel. I think the mateel is planning a meeting for all volunteers and coordinators that want to come on board and keep their jobs/positions

The Mateel needs to meet with the coordinators long before they meet with volunteers. They need to separate the two. The coordinators are paid positions and are key players in making the show flow. The volunteers work under the coordinators for a free pass to show. Keep the two separate and communicate immediately with the coordinators. Many of them depend on the salary they make from doing their jobs. This is just as important to them as it is to the non-profits.
Please whoever the person is making jokes STOP. This is affecting lots of peoples lives. Maybe not yours but lots of others. It’s a serious issue.

Life’s a joke. And then you die.
Maybe, if there really is a heaven, yours will be a constant Reggae party in the sky, filled with that funky, syncopated Reggae beat- for all eternity, without end, without even a pause for set replacement.
Or maybe that’s hell.

Maybe it is time to stop posting our comments as “anonymous”. We all have an absolute right to speak our truth, but would we speak in the same manner if our name was attached to our words?

It’s called retaliation and intimidation, Doug. There are many in the SoHum community who have been afraid for years about speaking out against ROTR, especially, if they have business interests in the community.
And you, a known user of the threatened lawsuit ploy, should be at least dimly aware of that fear.

More than dimly. It is sad to think of our culture here in So.Hum. as such an equal reflection of the “fear culture” of the world at large. Let’s hope that will change for any who feel that way. I stand by my efforts to have greater transparency and accountability of RotR and our Community Center. I, maybe naively, still believe a community center means just that, of, by and for the community. I believe we have that in the Mateel Community Center.

It might really blow some minds if the 2007 gig makes like say $666,000. That would really be a hoot!
Doug Green, GET REAL! the truth is often shadowed when “real” names are involved.

It is not the truth wherein the problem lies. It is the agenda of the poster. Full disclosure is transparency which undermines corrupt motives or authenticates the lack thereof.

Who’s tombstone was that rubbed from?
I fail to see what is so villainous or believably untruthful in any of the blogs, anon or otherwise, on this ROTR thread.
People are mainly expressing opinion and those that are repeating rumors or invective, well, that’s fairly obvious too.
If Eric didn’t allow anon free expression on his blogsite this would quickly become a haven for a few elitist rhetoricians, spelling critics, or a skins vs shirts intermural. What a bore.

Thank you for a thoughtful and heartfelt statement of the situation many people in the community find themselves in…
