I believe there is a specific passage in Acts or something where God tells Paul that Christians can eat whatever they want now that the law is fulfilled in the redemption. You also don’t have to make sacrifices, or abide by all the rituals of Leviticus, Dueteronomy, etc.

This Tabler guy is the same dude who said that he’d have to side with the lobsters when facing the choice of being able to solve a famine in africa by feeding them lobsters, if it were possible, by saying that he’d just have to let them starve (the humans, not the lobsters)

It percolated within the faith, see Jeremiah 7:31 for example on how Gehenna became synonymous with Hell. The idea of Hell was seized by the apocalyptic Jewish writers like the author of the Book of Enoch which the author of Revelation himself must have read. Jews were no doubt quite familiar with the concept of Hell by the time of Christ even though the orthodox Jewish position was that Sheol or a shadow existence if any. Once introduced into the world the concept of Hell has been impossible to eradicate. Like Heaven.
